Expertise Profile

Dr. Scott’s current work includes the following areas: Deep-sea paleo-oceanography, Quaternary Geology, and Quaternary paleooceanolography.  Within these areas his research includes: microfossils for use in environmental geology of coastal areas; coastal evolution, sea level and aquaculture; micropaleontology – Particularly Recent and Pleistocene, and Foraminifera and Ostracoda use as environmental indicators and coastal zone management tools; present distribution and usefulness of Thecamoebians in paleo-ecology; sea-level changes and environmental changes related to glacial periods; and using deep sea corals as a climate archive.  Additionally, Dr. Scott also studies pollution monitoring and records of natural disasters (hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, tsunami records) and their effects in coastal areas.
