Expertise Profile

Patrick Barnard is a coastal geologist focusing on beach and nearshore processes, with an emphasis on understanding short and long-term morphological evolution on the high energy beaches of California. He has worked for the USGS Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center in Santa Cruz, CA, for seven years. He currently leads the San Francisco Bay Coastal System Project, the development of the Coastal Storm Modeling System (CoSMoS) for assessing future climate change impacts along the California coast, and the Santa Barbara Littoral Cell Coastal Processes Study.
