Expertise Profile

Dr. Croll’s lab’s research includes the ecology and conservation of marine mammals, seabirds and their habitats, examining how physical and biological factors explain and predict mobile marine predators’ distributions. He also works with the introduction of non-native species and the restoration of island ecosystems. Their current research projects include the following areas: the foraging ecology of blue, fin, and humpback whales in the California Current; trophic links in the Monterey Bay upwelling ecosystem; and the ecological restoration of the islands of Northwest Mexico and California.
