Expertise Profile

Dr. Short directs a global seagrass monitoring program, SeagrassNet (www.SeagrassNet.org) and investigates the status and resilience of eelgrass populations in the New England region. SeagrassNet examines and documents both the status of seagrass resources worldwide and the threats to this important and imperilled marine ecosystem. Dr. Short’s research activities include estuarine nutrient pollution and eelgrass habitat loss, eelgrass restoration and mitigation, seagrass biodiversity and distribution and IUCN Red List assessment of the world’s seagrass species.
