Dr. O’Donnell is interested in fundamental geophysical and environmental fluid dynamics and the application of mathematical and statistical methods to the development of models of ecological and biogeochemical processes. Dr. O’Donnell is currently engaged in the development of coastal observing systems in the northeast. The technology includes RADAR, ADCPs, CTDs and DO sensors, buoys, models and data systems. The primary applications of the system are water quality and fisheries management. Dr. O’Donnell is also working on operational forecasting of surface currents.
